New local film competition offering filmmakers $5,000 to make a short film

Set to take Vancouver’s filmmaking community by storm, Old Bank Studios, in collaboration with InFocus Film School, is proud to announce Film Heist, an exhilarating filmmaking competition designed to ignite the creativity of emerging filmmakers in the Vancouver area. With a remarkable prize pool of $20,000, four production teams will be awarded $5,000 each to make an original short film.
The competition is a fantastic opportunity for aspiring filmmakers to showcase their talent, passion, and innovative storytelling skills. With the support of Old Bank Studios and InFocus Film School, participants will have the chance to bring their visions to life and captivate audiences with their unique perspectives.
"We are thrilled to present this exciting opportunity for budding filmmakers in Vancouver," said Steve Rosenberg, executive producer of Film Heist and president of InFocus Film School. "Through this competition, we aim to foster the growth of emerging talent and provide a platform for creative individuals to express their artistic vision. The $5,000 prize for each of the four winning teams will further empower them to continue pursuing their dreams in the film industry."
The four production teams will also receive mentorship from industry professionals who will guide them through the entire filmmaking process. From ideation to post-production, these mentors will provide invaluable insights and support to ensure that the films produced are of the highest quality. The judges, composed of local industry professionals and esteemed faculty members from Infocus Film School, will evaluate the submissions based on their artistic merit, technical proficiency, and overall impact.
