Steveston Wigs for Kids’ fundraiser record-breaking

—
A hair cut and dinner proved to be the ideal match for a major fundraiser recently.
Through the efforts and support of the Collective Beauty Studio and the Steveston Seafood House, and the generosity of a caring Richmond community, BC Children's Hospital's Wigs for Kids raised a record-breaking $80,000.
"I am just thrilled as we recently committed $45,000 to the new driving program at BC Children's Hospital," said program spokesperson Bev Friesen. "We are delighted that kids and their parents won't have to reply on transit after their chemotherapy or other treatments."
Friesen noted that through Wigs for Kids, free wigs are available to any child in BC who has lost their hair to cancer or other illnesses. The program also helps families financially with the costs of feeding supplies and certain cancer medication not covered by the Medical Services Plan.
"This fundraiser comes at a great time, and I would like to thank everyone involved," said Friesen. "It is also nice to see the small businesses in the community of Steveston come together to help BC kids and their families live better with cancer."
