Health Minister Adrian Dix and provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced 44 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. That brings the total number of confirmed cases to 1,561.

In addition, three more people have died of causes related to COVID-19 for a total of 75 deaths in the province.

Localized testing capabilities have been established in the Interior and North of the province to shorten testing turnaround times and reduce the potential for community transmission.

The province has created new resources to support Indigenous communities where health services are limited and self-isolation may not be possible.

Ultimately, Dix and Henry say it will be weeks before current restrictions are eased. There is still much to do to ensure community safety. Provincial authorities are looking into ways to safely restart the economy and health system.

“Be patient and be kind to each other,” said Henry.
