If you want a gorgeous waterfront view, a healthy end to your weekend, and some fresh air, try out the Sunset Fitness Series at the Richmond Olympic Oval’s Riverside Plaza.

Starting July 9, the free drop-in program runs every Sunday evening, from 5 to 7:15 p.m throughout the summer with a special Canada 150 treat at the July 30 session.

In addition to winning personal brownie points for getting fitter, each Sunday you could win fitness gear or gift cards from the Oval’s ROX Shop.

Each week, there will be a variety of fitness options such as a run club, zumba, yoga and partake of the beach volleyball, bowling, and picnic games. You can also participate in a more sedate but mentally invigorating game of giant chess.

The Canada 150 Sunday, July 30, starts with a BBQ, with free hamburgers for the first 150 attendees. It should be a fun day with all the usual activities plus live music and a bouncy castle because bouncing promotes fitness too.

Don’t worry about the weather, there’s lots of room inside the Oval should the drizzle or downpour start. These weekly gatherings are free; just bring your enthusiasm, a little bug repellant and slap on some sunscreen. For more information:richmond.ca/sunsetseries.
