B.C. health authorities reported 521 new cases of COVID-19 today, three of which are epidemiologically linked. Since the pandemic began, B.C. has recorded 140,596 cases.

Of the new cases, 77 are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 335 in the Fraser Health region, 18 in the Island Health region, 62 in the Interior Health region and 29 in the Northern Health region.

There are 4,815 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C. and 340 of those people are hospitalized, 118 of whom are in intensive care.

To date, 2,623,907 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca-SII COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C.; 135,246 of those are second doses.

Health officials said people aged 12 to 17 may now register to receive their vaccine, with more details to come tomorrow. They added that anyone who was immunized before April 15 must also register online so that they will be notified for their second dose booking when it is their turn.

Sadly, there were eight new virus-related deaths reported today, bringing that total to 1,658.

Health authorities reported one new healthcare facility outbreak and declared one over. There are now active outbreaks at four long-term care, assisted living and independent living facilities and two acute care facilities.
