B.C. reports 420 new COVID-19 cases

B.C. health authorities reported 420 new cases of COVID-19 today, for a total of 141,373 cases in the province since the pandemic began. 

This is a decrease from last Friday’s count of 494, but roughly in line with the current seven-day average which now sits at 438.

Of the new cases, 84 are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 240 in the Fraser Health region, seven in the Island Health region, 58 in the Interior Health region and 31 in the Northern Health region.

There are 4,507 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C. and 319 of those people are hospitalized, 107 of whom are in intensive care. 

To date, 2,744,020 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca-SII COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C.; 142,406 of those are second doses. 

Sadly, there were six new virus-related deaths reported today, bringing that total to 1,667.

Active outbreaks continue at four long-term care, assisted living and independent living facilities and one acute care facility.
