COVID-19 outbreak at Minoru Residence

A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared on 2 West of Minoru Residence after two positive cases of COVID-19 were identified.
Outbreak precautions have been implemented and the unit is closed to new admissions and transfers, with all group activities also suspended. Visits to 2 West of Minoru Residence will not permitted until the outbreak measures have been lifted; the exception being for essential care or compassionate visits at the end of life.
Vancouver Coastal Health immediately implemented strict infection prevention and control protocols to prevent further transmission of COVID-19. These include:
• Careful monitoring of residents, staff and physicians
• Enhanced cleaning and disinfection of all high-touch surfaces
• Closing the affected unit to resident admissions and transfers
• Cohorting of staff to the affected areas
• Self-monitoring or self-isolation of staff and physicians as part of Public Health contact tracing.
