B.C. reports 997 new COVID-19 cases, 11 deaths

B.C. health officials reported 997 new cases of COVID-19 since Friday. Since the pandemic began, B.C. has recorded 350,941 cases.
The numbers of new and total cases are provisional due to a delayed data refresh, according to a B.C. government news release.
Of the new cases, 209 are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 263 in the Fraser Health region, 204 in the Island Health region, 242 in the Interior Health region, 79 in the Northern Health region, and no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada.
There are 449 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19 and 63 are in intensive care.
To date, 11,379,437 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Pfizer Pediatric COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C.; 4,311,761 of those are second doses and 2,605,260 are third doses.
This means that 93.7 per cent of adults, 93.3 per cent of people aged 12 and older, and 90.7 per cent of people aged five and older have received their first dose of a vaccine. In addition, 91.2 per cent of adults, 90.8 per cent of those aged 12 and older, and 86.5 per cent of those aged five and older have received two doses; 58.1 per cent of adults and 56.2 per cent of those aged 12-plus have received three doses.
Sadly, there were 11 new COVID-related deaths reported since Friday, bringing that total to 2,914. Of those who died, six lived in the Fraser Health region, one in the Island Health region, three in the Interior Health region, and one in the Northern Health region.
Health authorities reported three health-care facility outbreaks over. Active outbreaks continue at 15 long-term care facilities, one assisted or independent living facility, and one acute care facility.
From Feb. 25 to March 3, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 19.1 per cent of cases. From Feb. 18 to March 3, they accounted for 31.9 per cent of hospitalizations.
