Although B.C. will lift its mask mandate effective tomorrow, masks still remain mandatory at Vancouver International Airport and onboard flights.
The airport, often called by its three-letter code YVR, said in a news release today that it is federally regulated and takes direction from the Government of Canada. Proof of vaccination also continues to be required for all air travel.
Meanwhile, TransLink will lift its mask mandate as of midnight tonight although customers and employees are “welcome to continue wearing masks on-board transit vehicles and at transit stations, depending on their own level of comfort,” according to a news release published today.
Masks will remain mandatory for customers and employees on HandyDART at this time, as many customers using this service are travelling to and from medical appointments. TransLink says it will consult with HandyDART customers and stakeholders and work with the provincial health office to identify the appropriate time to lift this requirement.
It will take some time for crews to remove all mandatory mask-related signage on the system. TransLink says it will continue increased cleaning and improved sanitization on vehicles with thorough ventilation.
