Blenz Coffee has announced that their annual Coffee by Donation Day will be returning on Tuesday, Oct. 17. On Coffee by Donation Day, any size of Blenz’s signature brewed coffee can be purchased by donation in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. All donations received from this initiative will directly support breast cancer research and advocacy through the Canadian Cancer Society.
Since 2013, the chain of coffee shops has swapped their signature yellow to-go cups for pink ones in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. In 2015, Coffee by Donation Day was introduced. Every year, Blenz raises over $20,000 in donations for the Canadian Cancer Society and has raised over $140,000 to date though the Pink Cup Campaign.
Through Coffee by Donation Day, Blenz has three goals. First, Blenz’s primary goal is to contribute to breast cancer research and awareness initiatives, believing that every contribution regardless of the size, can make a significant different in the fight against breast cancer. Secondly, Blenz’s mission is to spread awareness during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, hoping to educate and engage the community in discussions. Thirdly, with their change in cup colour, Blenz wants to inspire conversations about breast cancer in hopes of raising awareness and inspiring action.
Fiona and Leon, store owners at Richmond Blenz at Seafair and Robson are excited to be able to support cancer research in a meaningful way.
"As the owners of Blenz Robson and Seafair, we are so grateful to Blenz HQ for organizing this Breast Cancer Donation Month event. When our employees wore pink T-shirts and used pink cups to make drinks for customers, many were curious to know about this activity, and received overwhelming praise. The customer's affirmation of this event has played a positive role in our image of Blenz and gave us more opportunities to give back to our society!"
“Coffee has always been at the heart of our communities, bringing people together, and after a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are thrilled to announce our Blenz's Pink Cup Campaign is back,” says Geoffrey Hair, president and co-founder of Blenz Coffee. “Our Pink Cup Campaign has evolved into a powerful platform over the years that not only raises funds for the great work that the Canadian Cancer Society is doing but also shines a bright light on the importance of breast cancer research and awareness.”
Coffee by Donation Day is supported by Blenz Cares, a program that aims to ignite positive change, empower and help build stronger communities. Blenz Cares does this by leveraging resources, reach and the support of their guests to make a lasting impact on the world by partnering with charities and nonprofits to help spread awareness or raise money. Past partnerships include Theatre Under the Stars, United Way and the Surrey Dance Festival.
