BC companies, societies and co-operatives can have meetings online during the province’s state of emergency.

A temporary change to the Emergency Program Act will allow corporations to hold annual or special general meetings electronically. Corporations will also be able to hold hybrid meetings, which give people the option to participate in person or electronically.

Each company, society, and co-operative can choose from meeting methods including Zoom, Skype or telephone conference calls. Each participant should be able to communicate and vote, if needed.

If an online meeting platform is chosen, organizers should consider providing a telephone option for people without access to a computer.
