Canadian passport services on hold—except for urgent travel

Canadian passport services are available only to those who must travel urgently.
Those who already submitted an application will have their documents processed once service returns to normal. But anyone with a valid reason to travel urgently can get passport services now.
Urgent travel reasons include:
• medical reasons, if you have a serious illness
• the serious illness or death of someone you know
• financial problems from the loss of a job or business
• support of an essential service
• humanitarian reasons (accompanied by an explanatory letter from your organization)
To apply urgently, complete the online form to get a call back, or call the passport call centre directly at 1-800-567-6868.
Only apply if you meet the above criteria for urgent travel. Don’t apply if you’re having symptoms such as coughing, a fever or difficulty breathing, or if you’re in isolation.
